Ribbs hit the wall while testing a 1989 chassis last month at the mile oval in Phoenix.
This first racecourse was a mile oval with sharp bends.
The race track is a 5/8 mile (1006 m) oval.
The track has a main dirt track with a one mile oval.
However, testing on the .526 mile oval would remain legal.
The speedway was built as a 1.000 mile oval with flat turns.
One was a 7/16-mile oval, the other a 1/4 mile oval.
The 3/8 mile oval was rebuilt with a new pit lane and start-finish changed to the opposite side.
All three have won on the old 1.522 mile oval and the current 1.54 mile oval.
The current racetrack is an 1/2 mile oval.
