The shooting occurred on Aug. 22 in the subway station at Lexington Avenue and East 53d Street.

Members of the robbery unit learned that a robbery had occurred at a laundry at Newkirk Avenue and East 16th Street about a half-hour earlier.

The shootout occurred at 5:20 P.M. at East 169th Street and Sheridan Avenue in the High Bridge section, Officer Feeney said.
