I have always made it clear that the courts will not allow the use of state or federal funds to promote religion.

When the seven plaintiffs sued late last year to stop the course, they charged that its main purpose was to promote religion.

"I would say the primary purpose is not to promote religion," he said, "but to help kids who have had failed experiences in public schools."

"It is not Metro's intent to promote religion with the passes."

The park is not supposed to be used to promote religion.

"But any use of Government to promote religion would cause me to have serious reservations," he added.

Yet he was a Christian who did not wish government to promote religion.

They were promoting religion, the court held, and violating the Constitution by doing so.

Then again, the same could be said about posters promoting religion.
