In 1875 several graves were relocated thanks to the Legislature for a railroad right of way.
In 1901 and 1902 the railroad right of way was elevated through the downtown area.
Much of it runs along what was once the railroad right of way, the trains having stopped more than 10 years ago.
To the east of the museum is also an abandoned railroad right of way.
The railroad right of way passes one block behind the main street and is intact, being used as a parking area.
"We have an open mind about these old railroad rights of way," he said.
The railroad right of way was graded to Imperial in 1888.
Any construction project that requires workers to be on railroad right of way, and may foul track.
The line was built on an existing railroad right of way.
The current location is next to the same railroad right of way it once served.
