The route on the east face was opened only in 1873.
Other routes on the face were opened in 1883 and 1889.
Construction began in 1901, and the route was opened on April 30, 1902.
The route was opened for business on February, 12, 1899.
In December 2012 the new routes 22 and 28 were opened.
All the routes to the Arab countries were opened, and people could leave for free.
In 2005 a complementary route was opened further to the south.
However one can choose the path to take if both routes had been opened.
