These modifications were partly paid for by Littlewoods, who moved into the new enlarged shop unit.

Three new houses, two shop units, a garage and a factory were built on the site.

Even so, what little remains has also been threatened with development every few years, and a number of attempts made to build shop units upon it.

The development would consist of 4 shop units and 4 flats above.

Since its inception, the centre has been extended several times and many of the shop units have changed hands.

So what will happen to the shop units?

The shop units are available on very flexible lease terms with a generous rent free period.

Although the marketing operation has not started in earnest yet, the company says it is close to clinching a deal on 24 shop units.
