Xist (X-inactive specific transcript) is an RNA gene on the X chromosome of the placental mammals that acts as major effector of the X inactivation process.
So if there are 50 copies of a specific transcript in the biological sample, these transcripts will be captured onto 50 different microbeads, each bead holding roughly 100,000 amplified copies of the specific signature sequence.
Many of these are known genes, and an examination of the most specific transcripts revealed clear relationships to the associated tissue.
For instance, energy metabolism would be expected to change markedly upon plant invasion and intracellular migration toward the feeding site, and might include a decrease in expression of transcripts specific to the glyoxylate pathway.
This raises the possibilities that growth factors and other cell regulators may affect ribosomal function, and thereby the capacity of cells to transcribe specific transcripts.
It is apparent that the effect of DAP depends not only on the sequence compositions of target and probe, but also on the absolute abundance of specific transcripts in the target sample.
Conclusions In this work, we set out to explore the extent to which somatic cell transcripts associate with the cytoskeleton and to identify the specific transcripts that might be regulated through cytoskeleton localization.
Asked whether she could confirm that the transcripts related to Iraq, she said: "I can't, but there might well have been ... I cannot remember a specific transcript in relation, it doesn't mean it wasn't there."
Similar patterns of regulation of specific transcripts were observed and several examples of the differentially regulated genes are indicated in Figure 4.
