"Spin City," which would have been a certainty to go to a fifth season and likely more, now may end its run at four.
Mr. Goldberg said that in the last few weeks "Spin City" had been moved to too many different time periods on Tuesday night.
"Spin City," however, has an average audience of about 10.2 million this year, compared with 12.4 million last year.
As might be expected with any Gary David Goldberg product, "Spin City" is smart stuff.
"Spin City" marks the point of no return.
He has played himself on the sitcoms Spin City and The Hughleys.
"Spin City" is DreamWorks' only lasting success on television, and it, too, is shaky.
Guests had to check their cameras at the door since there were celebrities inside, including the casts of "Drew Carey" and "Spin City."
Its one stalwart hit, "Spin City," went off the air in 2002.
