Cover and leave in the refrigerator for at least 24hr, stirring occasionally.
Bring to a strong boil, stirring occasionally, over high heat.
Add bacon, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes, until just beginning to brown.
Let it brown a little, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes.
Place over low heat, cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cover and continue to cooking, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes.
Lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cover and cook over very low heat about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes.
Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes more.
