In 1981, when the trucks went into service, the department collected 3,183,000 tons of garbage.
"At the moment, we are talking about 80,000 tons of garbage a year in the seven towns," he said.
"Do you know that society throws away 10 million tons of garbage each year?"
Contracts for an additional 2,000 tons of garbage should be signed next year.
