Built around 1840, 15-19 Park Street was originally built as a one story house belonging to Henry Preston who had a wheelwright shop next door.

The wheelwright shop and the hotel closed.

The village had numerous houses, a saw-mill, a store, a blacksmith, wheelwright shops and the Boozer School.

He later added a blacksmith shop, a wheelwright shop and a moulding shop to his business as a carriage maker.

In 1872, to manufacture the new machine in earnest, a former wheelwright shop was secured along with several employees.

In 1880, the town consisted of a store, hotel, cabinet manufacturer, blacksmith, wheelwright shop, grist mill, school house and about 25 dwellings.

Gladstone also has a number of small businesses and industries, including cafes, homestays, and a wheelwright shop.

In the 19th century, the hamlet had mills, two shipyards, a tannery, candy factory, cider mill, wheelwright shop, blacksmith shop and many stores.

The town now boasted two stores, a blacksmith shop, a wheelwright shop, a church, a school and two taverns.

The village then included a tailor shop, blacksmith shop, wheelwright shop, barn and other buildings.
